This game, while it was a loss, was still very much a fun time for me. I got to be closer to the game than I have ever been--and nearly paid for it--and had a complete blast with the whole experience.
As for the game itself, I thought that while it was a very strong showing, there still is something missing from the gameplan, and that is a bit of bolstering in the defense. Not to get overly critical, there was definitely some sloppy tackling and blown coverages. Could be a personnel or experience issue, though.
But as I hung around before the game, the players were very polite and willing to talk for a free moment. 'Gimmie shots' were taken and turned out great.
I hope this team stays around for longer than a 1/3 of a season, as the loss of the GM, Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator seems to threaten the very existence of this young team. I know that the AF2 is looming, but I firmly believe that the smaller league can and will thrive in the face of a perceived 'better' league. I just hope what has happened in the past few days won't condemn the 'Crushers, as I think they have a better chance of bonding with the sports fans of Milwaukee than a more expensive franchise, because with their size, they come with a very distinct 'blue collar' feel.
